3 runs 5 days

OK - Back on track. Well, maybe have to be consistent over a month or so, but I feel back on track. I ran all timed runs instead of distance runs. Pretty much the same thing each time in terms of distance - 30 mins. 4.4k or roughly 2.8 miles. Feels great to get all the parts moving again and the times really aren't THAT bad ..... considering.

It's fall here now in Australia, but the part of Oz I'm in it is still hot - 80 degrees in the middle of the day. Which by the way, has been the time of day I've been running (on the weekend anyway). I definitely wouldn't do it at home, but somehow, the timing just works out pretty well this way.

The one race I have my eye one while I'm here is the Gold Coast marathon - not that I'm running the marathon of course, but I'm shooting for the 10k event they have that weekend (July 3rd). It looks great and it gives me an incentive or a target - for training, better nutrition, sleep, etc. etc. My friends David and Karyn are running the half marathon that day and have this sort of cute sort of real competition between the two of them. I'll be happy to run a good pace (for me) and a good overall time (for me). It's funny because I'm a competitive guy, but for some reason, I am just happy enough to be out there competing against myself during these runs. Anyway, all for now. G'day mates!

Is running a big thing down there like it is in the states? I know up here its gone crazy in the past 20 years. I wondered if the Australians are as into it.

Being another Yank down under, would say has crtainly boomed over the past several years; probably slgihtly more common in Oz then in the states, per capita. Would say probably (don't have the statistics to confirm/refute) but has probably taken a slight decline in past year or so, with higher incidnece of people taking up cycling, or both. Have a higher incidence (in Oz) of people doing more "just" running, either and cycling, or and swimming.... Probably contributing to higher incidence of triathlons being won by Australians, per capita...
ALl contributed to by warmer climate year round. top two thirds of country very rarely even get frost, yet alone snow!
